Tanjai Periya Koil

Tanjai Periyakoil also known as Brahadeeswarar Temple constructed By RajaRajaCholan, is almost 1000 Years old. This magnificient Temple is an Architectural Marvel and a fine specimen of Dravidian Architecture. The grandeur of the Architecture and the intricate sculpture finesse speaks volumes of skills of the Chola Kingdom.

The empty space or void above the Shivalingam inside the Gopuram is assumed as Paramasivam. My visit to this temple was a mind blowing experience, My urge to go to this temple again and again has increased after reading 'UDAYAR' a book written by Balakumaran, A well written book, it runs into six volumes and it gives you a clear insight about Imperial Chola Kingdom, RajaRajaCholan, his efforts to construct this magnificient temple. Words cannot express the feeling once you are inside the percinct of this beautiful Temple.
