A story about understanding.

I still love this one no matter how many times I have seen/read it!!! Makes my heart sing...
**************************
Puppies for sale A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.
"Mister," he said, "I want to buy "one of your puppies."
"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."
The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. "I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran
Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.
The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence,

the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg, attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.

Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy. "No charge," answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."

The world is full of people who need someone who understands.

Such a moving story it says a lot about understanding others.

Spirituality

I am a reading a book about The Book of secrets, In this book Osho talks about Vigyana Bhairava Tantra, I have just started it and it is too good, In this Osho talks about meditation techniques which constitute the tantric scripture. Most of it are very simple while reading, I tried to understand it with my available knowledge, (Some thing inside me sends a strong signal saying that, Hey it is very much out of your reach, and you are so called available knowledge is not real) My mind says you are not ready for these things now, but the truth is I don't have the courage to test or try.

In this book Osho says, "Spirituality is not a search for experience. Spirituality is the search for the real being that is inside you. And with that knowing, there is no urge-no urge to move for any new experience. With the knowing of the inner true reality, the authentic being, all search ceases."

"once you have known the inner treasure, once you have come in contact with your deepest core, you can live an ordinarily worldly life, but the emptiness will remain with you. The music of it will be heard. And this is the mystery; when you are deeply empty, whatsoever you do or speak is not from you-it comes from the deepest source of existence."

Practically speaking this is fantastic while reading, How to practice this continuously on 24x7 basis. I consoled by saying to myself that it is just curiosity to know something about spirituality. Osho hammers on my head by saying that,

Search needs passion, Curiosity is not going to lead you anywhere. People ask about god, people ask about truth, but you can see from their eyes, by the way they have asked, that they don't mean business. Just as people talk about the weather, people talk about god too. It is polite conversation. Nobody seems to be involved, Nobody seems to be in a passionate search. And unless your search is of great passion, of tremendous commitment, of utter involvement, you will not be able to know the secrets of your being.

Any body there to help me ?.. I remember the famous Chandramukhi dialogue, enna kodamai saravanan ithu?

Lalla - Mystic from Kashmir.

LALLA
"I discovered the Lord
Within the walls of my own soul".
Lalla (1320-90) was born in a Kashmiri village near Srinagar in Northern India. She was married at the age of twelve, which was the custom, but her mother-in-law was abusive and demanding and her husband paid little attention to her. After enduring this unkind treatment for several years, Lalla left her husband’s home to become a wandering ascetic. She composed hundreds of songs and sang them to other devotees and all who came to hear.

A glimpse from the Poems of Lalla.

To memorize the scriptures is easy,
to live them is hard.
Faking sincerity is a learned skill
being sincere is a life long endeavor.
Look deep
words vanish
Joyous, silent,
The Awaken One finds the dreamer.

I, Lalla, willingly enter the garden-gate.
There, to my joy, I behold Siva united with Sakti;
There I am absorbed in drinking from the Lake of Nectar.
Now I am immune from harm,
I am dead to the world,
though I am still alive.

I search for my Self
until I grow weary,
but no one, I know now,
reaches the hidden knowledge
by mere effort.
Then, absorbed in 'Thou art Everything,'
I found the place of Wine.
All the jars were filled to the brim
but no one was left to drink it.

Give up that imaginary thought
that you cannot rise above desire
or fix your mind on the Self.
He is right next to you!
Do not look for Him far away.
My void merged in the pure Void!

Simple but profound, It is soul stirring and triggers the activity of introspection within ourselves to know our own self.

I would like to know more about lalla and her poems, can anyone suggest links or reference to know about Lalla.

Strange But True!

SO TRUE

Isn't it strange how a 20 rupee note seems like such a large amount when
you donate it to temple, but
such a small amount
when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when
you're at Temple, and how
short they seem when you're
watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't
find a word to say when
you're praying,
but you have no trouble
thinking what to talk about
with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult
and boring it is to read
one chapter
of the Bhagwad Gita, but how easy
it is to read 100 pages of
a popular novel ?

Isn't it strange how everyone
wants front-row-tickets
to concerts or
games, but they do whatever
is possible to sit at the last
row in Prayer assembly?

Isn't it strange how we need to
know about an event for
Temple 2-3
weeks before the day so we can
include it in our agenda, but we can
adjust it for other events in
the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it
is to learn a fact about God to share it
with others, but how easy
it is to learn, understand,
extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we
believe everything
that magazines and newspapers
say, but we question the words in the
Bhagwad Gita?

Isn't it strange how everyone
wants a place in
heaven, but they don't want
to believe, do, or say anything
to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send
jokes in e-mails
and they are forwarded
right away, but when we are going to send
messages about God, we think
about it twice before we share
it with others?

It's STRANGE...Isn't it?

This is a mail forward from my friend, This is really strange but VERY TRUE,

Wish u all a Happy and Prosperous Pongal.

SAHAJO AN ENLIGHTENED WOMAN

Sahajo, also known as, Sahajo Bai was a disciple of the great teacher Charandas.she was an eighteenth century mystic from Rajasthan.
Sahajo means (essence of simplicity) her poems are simple marked by natural style and direct from heart. She is highly devoted to her guru charandas. Osho in his book Showering without clouds speaks about Sahajo and her beautiful poems.

In this poem Sahajo beautifully expresses her relationship with her master and she keeps her master above God.

I can abandon God, but I would not forsake my master.
God is not the equal of my master.

God has given me birth into this world.
My master has freed me from the cycle of birth and death.

God gave me the five thieves.
My master freed me from them when I was helpless.

God threw me into the net of the family.
My master cut away the chains of attachment.

God ensnared me in desire and disease.
My master has freed me from all this by initiating me.

God made me to wander in the illusion of doing.
My master showed me my being.

God hid himself from me.
My master gave me a lamp to illuminate him.

Above all, God created this duality of bondage and freedom.
My master destroyed all these illusions.

I offer myself, body mind and soul
At the feet of my master,Charandas.

I can abandon God, but I can never abandon my master.

This poem is direct dilse, pranams to Sahajo, This poem is a real tribute to Gurubhakti.

The problem with reading about such great masters and mystics is, I feel bad about myself and I don't know when I will start my journey towards my innerself and I don't know how many births I have to take to realise Who am I?.............

A story about quitting

I QUIT
One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my
spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with GOD. "GOD", I said.
"Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer surprised
me...

"Look around", GOD said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care
of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew
from
the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came
from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second
year
the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from
the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo." GOD said.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I
would not quit.

In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo see. I would
not quit." GOD said.

"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared
to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...But just 6
months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the
five
years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it
needed
to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could
not
handle." GOD said to me.

"Did you know, that all this time you have been struggling,
you have actually been growing roots?"

"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."

"Don't compare yourself to others." GOD said. "The bamboo had a
different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest
beautiful."

"Your time will come", GOD said to me. "You will rise high"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" GOD asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned

"Yes." GOD said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and bring back this story. I hope these words can
help you see that GOD will never give up on you.

GOD will never give up on you.

Friends this is another beautiful story which touched me and made me understand that everyone is unique and everyone has to live their life fully and reach greater heights.

Life is not a problem to be solved, it is a mystery to be lived and enjoyed.

Let this new year bring Joy, Fun, Peace, Love, Health and prosperity to every one.

Best wishes for 2008.
